Michael J. De Smidt
Before transitioning to the legal field, Mr. De Smidt worked in undergraduate education as an advisor and advocate at UC Santa Cruz for many years. Mr. De Smidt works on complex civil litigation cases, business transactions, and assists with municipal law matters affecting our local community.
Mr. De Smidt earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco in 2018, where he served as Editor-in-Chief for the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Journal. He previously earned his Master of Arts from San Diego State University in 2011 and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Santa Cruz in 2007.
Mr. De Smidt is admitted to the California State Bar.
Community Activities and Affiliations:
Mr. De Smidt has called Santa Cruz County home since arriving here as a college student nearly two decades ago. He is active in the local craft beverage industry, volunteering as a certified beer judge in local, state, and national competitions. He is also very active in the local Irish music community, playing the Irish uilleann bagpipes in a wide range of events. Mr. De Smidt enjoys backpacking, cultivating his large pepper garden, and spending time with his wife and family.
