FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 9, 2003
Watsonville, CA – The 2002 Santa Cruz
County Fair was one of the most successful Fairs in California.
To help sustain this success, the Santa Cruz County Fair Board
has reelected Sue King as board president and tapped board
member Dennis Howell to serve as vice president. This action
was taken during the December 2002 meeting.
As a native of Watsonville, King has been intimately
involved with the Fair for over 35 years. She eventually served
as Home Arts Department head and was appointed to the board
in 1993 and first elected as president in 2002. Her commitment
to the Fair extends to the Rodgers House Committee where she
has been vice president for the past three years. Sue is married
to another Watsonville native John King and she continues
to live in Watsonville.
Vice President Howell was appointed to the board
in 1998 by then governor Pete Wilson and lives in Santa Cruz
with his wife, Vicki. He is a shareholder in the Watsonville
law firm of Grunsky, Ebey, Farrar & Howell. Dennis is
currently president of the Association of Defense Counsels
of Northern California and Nevada, a member of the American
Board of Trial Advocates and has been a past president of
the Freedom Rotary Club.
Both are looking forward to another successful
Fair, which this year will run September 9-14, 2003.
