Ms. Buchbinder provides comprehensive, tax-sensitive estate planning services tailored to the individual needs of her clients. She develops estate planning strategies designed to preserve wealth and provide peace of mind during this time of change and uncertainty regarding estate taxation laws.
Experience
Ms. Buchbinder represents individuals and families with estates ranging in size from modest to very large estates, crafting estate plans designed to meet each client's unique needs, goals and objectives. She also represents clients in probate and trust administration matters, as well as representation in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings.
Ms. Buchbinder was the co-founder and former Executive Director of Educational Consortium Institute (ECI), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt educational nonprofit. She has experience establishing and monitoring 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations.
Education
Ms. Buchbinder received her Juris Doctorate from the Monterey College of Law in 2007, where she was the recipient of the Phil Gibson Award for Academic Achievement.She earned an Artium Baccalaureus (A.B.) degree from the University of California (UC), Berkeley in Political Economy, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, with Highest Honors in General Scholarship and High Honors in her major. In 1998, Ms. Buchbinder graduated from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey with High Honors in Japanese. She received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She is currently enrolled in the Estate Planning Certificate Program offered through the Golden Gate University Law School, L.L.M. (Master of Laws) in Taxation Program. She speaks Japanese.
Admissions
Ms. Buchbinder is admitted to the California Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
Community Activities and Affiliations
Ms. Buchbinder is a member of the Monterey County Bar Association, the Santa Cruz Women Lawyers Association, and the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the Trusts and Estates Section of the State Bar of California and the Santa Cruz County Bar Association. She serves as a Board Member of Soroptimist International of Watsonville.
