Leslie J. Karst is the Firm's senior associate,
specializing in appellate work and legal research and
writing. Her practice is primarily in litigation, and
includes insurance defense, administrative and municipal
law, real estate law, probate, and other civil matters.
Ms. Karst has been involved on behalf
of the prevailing party in several cases which have
resulted in published opinions, including: Cassista
v. Community Foods (1993) 5 Cal.4th 1050; Radovich v.
Locke-Paddon (1995) 35 Cal.App.4th 946; and Meister
v. Regents of University of Calif. (1998) 67 Cal.App.4th
437.
Ms. Karst received her J.D. from
Stanford University Law School in 1988, and during her
tenure at Stanford was awarded the Hilmer Oehlmann,
Jr. Prize for Research/Writing. She received her B.A.
in English Literature from the University of California,
Santa Cruz in 1978. Ms. Karst speaks Spanish, French
and Italian. In 1988, she was admitted to the California
bar, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District
of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth
Circuit.
Ms. Karst sings with the Cabrillo
College Symphonic Chorus, and in her spare time
also enjoys traveling, photography, cooking, reading,
and gardening.
